The Sakiko Kanamori Prize

The Sakiko Kanamori Prize

We have established a small endowment at Hope in Sakiko's memory. "The Sakiko Kanamori Prize" is given each year to one or more voice students who are on their way to professional singing careers. It is based on need and may be used only for expenses outside the college. Sakiko always remembered how difficult it was to get started and how important little things were. Examples of expenses that can be supported include a plane ticket to an important audition or sessions with a special vocal coach. To insure that the recipient(s) will contribute to the Hope community after receiving the prize, the Music Department will usually award it to sophomores or juniors, though first semester seniors will also be eligible.

Our target was US$25,000. Even though we have just reached it, we hope that the endowment can grow still more. We started with an annual prize of US$1,000 in 2007-2008 and have increased this amount gradually to keep pace with inflation. Information about recipients of the prize appears on this website.

Friends of Sakiko who wish to contribute may do so in one of two ways.
